It is a big day for India as Chandrayaan-2 was successfully launched from the Sriharikota space station in Andhra Pradesh at exactly 2:43 on July 22. The internet is delighted as personalities including Anand Mahindra, Sushma Swaraj and others revered in joy with the massive achievement.
Indian Space Research Organisation's (ISRO) heavy lift rocket - the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle-Mark III (GSLV-Mk III) - carried the 3,850 kg Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft, as it blasted off from the Sriharikota spaceport.
Twitter is filled with pride as netizens and celebrities congratulated ISRO for the massive feat. "I stand & salute our scientists. They are deservedly our new celebrities," industrialist Anand Mahindra tweeted while politician Sushma Swaraj "wished the mission a grand success."
